Singapore, 10 June 2015 – In a bid to do its part for both the environment and society’s less-privileged, ERA donated 600 used career jackets to Metta Welfare Association on the 3rd of June 2015.To kick-start the charity initiative, ERA’s sales associates were first informed that they could exchange their used ERA jackets for new ones. Upon confirmation of sizes during fittings, associates’ identification numbers were keyed into a system. The system tagged their identification numbers to their selected sizes – this was done to avoid confusion during the exchange.
The exchange was conducted during ERA’s Asia Pacific Business Conference which was hosted at The Star Vista along Buona Vista. To avoid misuse of the ERA brand, all ERA logos on old jackets were removed before they were donated to Metta Welfare Association.
“We believe in giving back to the community which we play a part in. Instead of disposing of items that seem to be of little importance to us, let us do our part in donating and recycling them. It can make a difference,” urged Mr Jack Chua, CEO, ERA Realty Pte Ltd.
The donation is in support of Metta Welfare Association’s recycling programme which not only benefits the environment, but also translates the used jackets into cash donations to be used for the purchases of groceries for low income families. Some of the groceries will include instant noodles, bee hoon, canned food, biscuits, jam and toiletries. Based on the weight of the jackets, Metta Welfare Association’s recycling partner will calculate and decide on the cash donation amount to be donated to Metta.
ERA remains committed to contributing to the community and non-profit organisations regularly to make a difference in the society.
